Tailored Pain Management

that helps surgeons provide better care and reduces healthcare burdens.

Historically, opioid medications are the backbone of Orthopedic Post-operative recovery globally.

Much work (research/regulation) has been done over the past couple of decades to better understand and limit opioid use.

Pain Coach is software for personalized post-operative pain management.

It helps patients educate and advocate for themselves, to better integrate into their healthcare team.

Patient autonomy is important to all of us, but writing patient specific prescriptions isn’t always practical for busy surgeons.

We want to make pain easier to manage for all people, while improving access and reducing healthcare burden.

Currently, patients want more support on how to respond to their pain.

Patients don’t know to think about their pain before surgery. We help educate them.

Patients’ preferences and addiction-risk factors are not always considered when prescribing post-surgical regimen. We help patients decide what they want and help them to communicate their preferences.

Patients often feel alone dealing with their post-surgery pain. Pain Coach provides immediate remote guidance to react to their at-home post-surgery pain.

Patients’ lack of knowledge can result in sub-optimal decision making, leading to poor surgical outcomes, increased recovery times, and higher risk of opioid addiction.

Currently, Surgeons don’t have tools to build patient pain profiles.

There is currently a lack of tools to seamlessly prescribe according to a patient’s own preferences and risk factors for addiction.

Surgeons often lack the time to educate and follow up with patients.

We hope to help surgeons be more collaborative, efficient and intentional for their patients.

Hospital systems deal with downstream effects.

Sub-optimal patient decision
making can lead to poor surgical outcomes, increased recovery times, and higher risk of opioid addiction.

From an increase in acute post-surgery issues, to confused or concerned patients taxing the system, post-surgery pain management burdens absorb scarce resources; both during healing, and long-term with opioid misuse or addiction. Pain Coach can reduce those burdens.

We are currently in the research and development phase.

The feasibility study of our first minimally viable product finished May 2023.

Those results are now shaping the build of our next pain management tool.
When ready, we will begin further clinical trials including our first randomized controlled trial against standard of care.
